Bell expands Wireless Home Internet to Atlantic Canada

Bell Canada has announced the expansion of its Wireless Home Internet (WHI) fixed-wireless broadband service to Atlantic Canada, aiming to cover 70,000 households in hundreds of rural communities in the four Atlantic provinces by the end of 2020, rising to nearly 200,000 residences over two years. Around 68,000 premises will be in New Brunswick, 86,000 in Nova Scotia, 27,000 in Prince Edward Island and 15,000 in Newfoundland & Labrador. WHI's current peak data speed of 50Mbps/10Mbps (down/upload) will be available to about 70% of these connected homes, as will upgrades to 5G services in future, once necessary wireless spectrum is made available by the federal government in 2021, Bell added.

Bell WHI is currently available to more than 400,000 households in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, and is eventually expected to reach one million homes in smaller towns and rural communities in seven provinces, including upcoming rollouts in Manitoba.
