Rogers’ revenues rise 6% in 4Q18

Canadian quad-play operator Rogers Communications posted a 6% year-on-year increase in total revenue for the three months ending 31 December 2018 to CAD3.94 billion (USD2.95 billion), up from CAD3.73 billion in the same period of 2017. Underlying mobile revenue climbed 8% – driven chiefly by mobile data demand monetisation – and fixed broadband internet revenue improved by 6% as Rogers added 25,000 net quarterly new broadband subscribers. The company posted adjusted net income of CAD585 million for the fourth quarter of 2018, up 11% from CAD525 million in 4Q17.

112,000 net post-paid mobile subscriber additions in 4Q18 (up from 72,000 added in 4Q17) gave an end-year post-paid total of 9.157 million, while quarterly net pre-paid user losses of 139,000 reduced Rogers' pre-paid total to 1.626 million, and its end-December overall wireless total to 10.783 million. Its financial report highlighted an improved monthly post-paid churn rate of 1.23% for October-December 2018 compared to 1.48% a year earlier.
