Bell Canada has expanded its commercial 5G mobile network to the Atlantic Canada provinces, announcing launches in Halifax Regional Municipality (Nova Scotia), Fredericton (New Brunswick) and St. John's, Flatrock, Paradise, Portugal Cove and Wabana (all in Newfoundland & Labrador, claiming the first 5G service in the province). 5G from Bell is also expected in Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island) 'later this year'.
Claiming peak theoretical mobile data speeds up to 1.7Gbps, Bell confirmed last month that its 5G network had reached 35% of the Canadian population and was on track to reach 70% by the end of the year.
